We were delighted to get a call from Sarah and Stacey, who we celebrated their wedding with way back in 2009 (has it really so long!?.)

The special occasion this time was the arrival of baby Ellis, and it was fantastic to spend a few hours catching up, and meeting the little guy for the first time. It will be a pleasure seeing the little man growing up.

Music from the roots

I spent the weekend with friendly people and very talented musicians, all making for a great atmosphere. This was the second (I think!?) Hebden Folk Roots Festival, featuring Chumbawumba, alongside a historic pairing up of two of the folk greats of their respective musical generations, Steve Tilston and Becky Unthank. Great performances were also put in by Flossie Malavialle, Roger Davies, and Ewan Maclennan.

There were also some amazingly talented young musicians, including the eclectic Maia the Band on Saturday night, and a special young talent showcase on Sunday daytime.

‘An occasion full of love’

Playing catch-up updating the blog at the moment. One of the most notable celebrations we have captured recently was the civil partnership of Ann and Val.

Weddings days are always full of love, goodwill and happiness as you would expect, but this was one of the special ones. This was also our first time attending a Quaker wedding service, and we have never been made to feel more welcome and a part of the celebrations. You could almost feel the happiness in the air all day, and the entire day was staged by family, friends and community pulling together, to make such a wonderful day.

‘One of the more unusual ones’– Skipton Puppet Festival

I have to admit to this being my first puppet festival, but after finding out about it from friends who were heavily involved in the event this year, I just had to go along to see what it was all about.

The picturesque Yorkshire town of Skipton, on the edge of the Dales, plays host to a small and welcoming festival each year I discovered, with Puppeteers and related performers from all over Europe and beyond putting on shows over three days. I was only able to catch the festival on the final day, but was fortunate to catch the parade through the town. There was more than a passing resemblance to the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade, which happens locally every year. Not surprising given the involvement of members of the Handmade Parade, and it certainly got the attention of visitors and residents alike, a great success. Hopefully this can become a regular feature of the Puppet Festival, now in it’s fourth year.

Highlight of the festival parade for me had to be the giant sheep, which were made in Skipton as part of a 12 day residency workshop prior to the finale. The quartet of sheep even included their own sheepdog, and shepherd.

Photoshoot for Anon Lingerie

Had a great day on Sunday shooting images for a new promotional campaign for Anon Lingerie of Elland. Shooting thirteen models over three locations in just a few hours is not every photographers idea of fun, but the helpers and models made this a tiring but really enjoyable session.

Remarkably, the models were not professionals, but were all customers and friends of Rebecca, owner at Anon. Everyone did amazingly well, and we came away with some fantastic images. Watch out for these when you visit Rebecca’s shop during or after October 22nd, when she will be celebrating her 1st year anniversary.
